Explore Experience
A journey made of stories,
not just sightings.
Your morning begins with a comfortable pickup in central Ubud, leaving behind the bustling traffic for the serene highlands of Tegallalang.
Our first stop is a sensory immersion at a traditional local market. Unlike tourist-heavy stops, this is a 40-minute deep dive into Balinese daily life.
Your guide will introduce you to exotic fruits, root spices, and ceremonial items that define our culture. You won’t just look—you will taste fresh tropical fruits and traditional cakes, experiencing the vibrant morning trade before heading further north.
The Sacred Soil of Taro Village
A short, scenic drive brings you to Taro, one of Bali’s oldest and most sacred villages. This is the land where the priest Rsi Markandya first established the island’s agricultural traditions centuries ago.
At Taman Dukuh, our family-owned organic farm, you are welcomed with Balinese coffee or herbal tea. Equipped with a bamboo basket, you’ll join a guided tour of the estate.
You will learn the logic of Balinese farming and “seed-to-plate” sustainability while harvesting the very vegetables and spices—like long beans and lemongrass—you’ll use in your cooking class moments later.
Mastering the Mother Spice (Base Gede)
The cooking session takes place in our open-air kitchen, overlooking the jungle. You’ll be paired at a shared station to master the foundation of all Balinese cuisine: Base Gede. Using a stone mortar and pestle (ulekan), you will grind and blend aromatic roots to unlock the scents of galangal, turmeric, and ginger. Under the patient, step-by-step guidance of our English-speaking chefs, you’ll prepare a complete 6-course menu tailored perfectly for meat-eaters, vegetarians, or vegans.
The “Cook-Eat-Cook-Eat” Experience
We believe food tastes best when enjoyed at its peak freshness, which is why we follow a unique “Cook-Eat-Cook-Eat” style. Instead of waitins of the jungle. You will be paired up at a shared cooking station, ensuring a fun and collaborative atmosphere.
